Regional Exercise LONGREACH

Launched in 2022, Regional Exercise LONGREACH is a SPDMM initiative that aims to build Humanitarian Assistance Disaster Relief (HADR) capacity and interoperability, seeking to collectively plan for and respond to regional disasters.

Regional Exercise LONGREACH is hosted annually prior to the high risk weather season. It focuses on building closer relations among SPDMM members’ militaries and their civilian disaster response agencies. It provides an opportunity for participants to discuss strategies to enhance interoperability for HADR tasks.

It has been hosted by Fiji (2022), Papua New Guinea (2023), Australia (2024) and Tonga (2025).
